About Westport Preserve
The Adirondack Land Trust’s 378-acre nature preserve in Westport features the 0.7-mile Summit Trail and the 0.9-mile Hidden Valley Trail. Both can be accessed via a parking area and trailhead on Halds Road. Find more information to plan your visit here.
Since the preserve was opened in 1992, thousands of hikers have visited annually to enjoy views of Lake Champlain and the High Peaks. Many are also drawn to colorful springtime blooms of round-lobed hepatica, purple trillium, bloodroot, and other wildflowers.
As we strive to make all our nature preserves welcoming to more people, we are in the process of renaming this wonderful preserve to give it a distinctive name, separate from the mountain it was initially named after. For now, we are calling it our Westport Preserve and looking forward to engaging with community members to find a new name that represents the essence and character of this site.
