Winter Wildlife Tracking

Loading Events

Snow turns the forest into a record of wildlife activity, revealing stories written in tracks, feathers, imprints, and fur. Join naturalist Elizabeth Lee for a free winter wildlife tracking field trip at Four Peaks in Jay, NY. As you snowshoe across this beautiful 595-acre tract, protected as forever wild since 2024 when the Adirondack Land Trust and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation added it to the Forest Preserve, Elizabeth will guide you in hands-on observation to learn more about the wildlife surrounding us in a quiet forest.

Limited to 10 participants. This field trip will take place outdoors with no access to indoor shelters or bathrooms. During the two-hour field trip, the group will travel through forested terrain and open fields on snow-covered trails at least 36 inches wide for approximately 1.5 miles with 400 feet of elevation gain. Snowshoes are required for participants.
