Here’s your chance to see moth species up close after dark! Moths come out on warm, humid nights where cloud cover dims light from the moon and stars. Our stewardship team and a moth expert will monitor conditions and send a special invitation to join us at the Adirondack Land Trust’s Westport Preserve in the Champlain Valley one night in July.
At this family-friendly event, we’ll use high-intensity lights to attract these nocturnal winged insects for observation, photography, and tallying the different species we see. Depending on conditions, the event will take place in the preserve parking lot or at a forest site reached by a short walk along a trail. Sign up to let us know you’re interested, and we’ll reach out by email when Moth Night is ready to take flight!
